NC endorses agreement to form new government
Kathmandu, 13 July:
The Nepali Congress (NC) today endorsed the agreement struck with the CPN (Maoist Centre) to form a new government.
NC central committee that met in the parliament building in New Baneshwor today morning unanimously approved the agreement, said NC leader Dilendra Prasad Badu.
The meeting was called to discuss the next political move after the Maoist Centre pulled out its support to the incumbent government on Tuesday.
The agreement reached with Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal includes that NC was ready to form a national unity government under the leadership of Dahal.
Some leaders had expressed their discontent with the NC President Deuba for expediting the process of formation of coalition government with CPN-MC without soliciting their views on the same as well the seven-point agreements made between the NC and CPN-MC.
The meeting had also dwelt on three alternatives in the current turn of event such as the resignation of the PM Oli after CPN-MC withdrawing its support to the incumbent government and the alternative of seeking a vote of confidence and facing the no-confidence vote, of which the meeting decided on the resignation of the PM as the best alternative.
The meeting has drawn a conclusion that PM Oli has to face motion of no confidence if he delays to render resignation.
NC has decided to hold talks with the disgruntled parties, expediting the backlogs of the peace process on the basis of consensus, curbing black marketeering, inflation and ensuring good governance, according to Badu.
