Kamal Thapa reiterates need for reinstating country a Hindu nation

Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal Chair Kamal Thapa has said an agenda of reinstating the country a Hindu state should be included in the constitution amendment proposal.

Speaking at a reception organised here today by the party Chandragiri Town Committee on the occasion of the Dashain, Tihar, Nepal Sambat and Tihar festivals, leader Thapa said Nepal, home to around 82 per cent Hindu population, he declared a Hindu state. Aspirations of such a vast majority of people need to be met while amending the constitution.

Stating that that the country was facing rising foreign meddling these days, he sought a unity among what he called nationalist forces to defend such interference.

Religious tolerance that has been long practised in the country has helped to maintain social harmony and promote the unity among all castes and communities here, he added.
